The Boys' Brigade (Church of Scotland) World Mission Fund

The Real Transformers

This year's Boys' Brigade World Mission Fund project is helping sick kids in Hungary. The Bethesda Hospital is the only Christian children's hospital in middle and eastern Europe. The Hungarian Reformed Church runs the hospital and the way the hospital works reflects its Christian background as well as making use of the best professional skills and modern technical facilities.

The Background
The hospital admits children from Budapest (the capital of Hungary) but also from all over the country. The hospital takes care of injured and physically handicapped children, and those with social problems. The hospital has pastors, teachers, and a mental health team.

In the Rehabilitation Unit they help children get better who have serious burns, or who have been injured in a car accident, or hurt while playing sports like football. The care at the hospital helps kids who have behaviour problems, anxiety, or learning difficulties. This way, they transform the lives of their patients.

The financial resources of the hospital are complex. Some funding comes from the government, but the Church pays for all operating costs. They can't survive without the help they get from donors and sponsors - so your fundraising is really important!
